Ringtone Delight: Hinder - Lips of an Angel

Hinder

This Oklahoma City band has been playing for a while, since 2002 to be exact. There is five of them (u know- the old, vocals, lead guitar, rhythm guitar, bass, drums), just recently their first debut album was released on “Universal Records” and up until now it’s doin’ just fine… They are Hinder!

Their first single out of their album was titled “Get Stoned” and though parents out their probably don’t appreciate the title, I personally really love the song. However! The second single “Lips of an Angel” is the really amazing one…

The song is really powerful…the rock…the pop… the acoustic guitars.. it’s gr8. The funny thing about the band is that through all the years they have had a problem of their main genre. I mean a band that is self-described as “Hard Rock, Pop Metal, Glam Metal, Post-Grunge” can cause a few dilemmas along the way.

Extreme Behavior

But fuck that, I don’t really care what they are supposed to be called, they’re a good rocking out band and if u dint hear of them till now u better check ‘em out cause their crazy guitar riffs and powerful vocals will really get you hooked (worked on me).

Their whole album is just magnificent. It is titled “Extreme Behavior” and was released about a year ago really…but who cares…this music sticks with you. So back to our song “Lips of an Angel”: it has really been the band’s breakthrough single… I mean it got to number 9 on the “Billboard Hot 100″ and to number 5 on the “U.S. Hot Digital Songs”. PLUS, it got to number 38 in the “U.S. Hot Ringtones” list. (bet you didn’t know there was such a list…)

And that brings me to the ringtone… Yeah, it’s ok. But not A-OK! I think they could’ve done a better job on this one. It’s a real powerful song which could have been brought out more with the bass and the rhythm. I would give this ringtone 6 TONY’S. I wish I could have given more but it has let me down… (Note to band and ringtone composers: pls put out more awesome songs and make better ringtones!) The songs deserve it.

Kelis is getting freaking Bossy. Is that why her new hair due looks like a helmet?

This ringtone review is brought to you by Thecellfreak.com.

Kelis gone EMO

Yo this chick is pretty bossy… her beats and rhymes just make this statement stronger… And damn, she can boss me around whenever she wants. Her full name is Kelis Rogers, but we all know her as “Kelis“. She was born and raised in Manhattan, New York (go NYC!) and her songs are the usual MTV Base stuff… you know…R&B, Hip Hop…she has songs that are really poppy too…but it don’t matter to me cause she’s got me hooked.

She’s been around the music scene since 1999 and till today has released 4 albums… She also worked on a lot of side projects with other artists such “P. Diddy”, “Busta Rhymes” and even “Moby”…

Her newest album is chillin…the type you could listen to all week and still not get sick of those hipster beats that make u wanna manage the dance floor! Her hit single “Bossy” is just what I needed to hear out of this artist… The song features “Too $hort“, a rapper who started his career as a youth in Oakland, California. Through his music, Too $hort has cultivated a persona of a no-nonsense pimp, and is widely credited for popularizing pimp culture in hip hop, along with Ice T.

But back to our Kelis… “Bossy” is the first single off her album: “Kelis Was Here” and so far is the second biggest hit of Kelis’s career in the United States. The ringtone made for this song is pretty cool… Actually the beat and rythem of this song are kind of unusual but it’s so tight that the ringtone sounds perfect!

U don’t believe me? Go check it out!!!

Shakira, your hips are ringin’ !

This ringtone review is brought to you by thecellfreak.com

Shakira, Shakira!

Full of grace…in Arabic you would pronounce this quality in one word…”Shakira”. Yes, we all know Shakira as the queen of Latin rock/pop music. Her Spanish accents and her “shake your booty” songs stick to your brain hit after hit…

Shakira was born and raised in Colombia and started to sing at the age of 8. Her first experience with music was singing in a chorus (where all of the kids complained that her voice wasn’t good enough.) Wonder what those kids would say about the 5 Grammy’s she’s won for Best Latin/Pop Singer and Writer? Talk about sweet revenge!

This time around, Shakira meets up with Mr. big famous hip hop artist Wyclef Jean, one of the biggest and most successful hip hop artists of our time, with the hit song “Hips Don’t Lie” (you can practically taste the pop hit potential with a name like that!)

“Hips Don’t Lie” is currently rocking radios and TV’s far and wide…Who knew this combination of two great artists would have become the most played song in American pop history? Played 9,657 times on the radio in one week, the song beat Gwen Stefani’s hit Hollaback Girl (and as we all know, that was a HUGE hit!)

If you, too, are a fan of Shakira’s hips and would like to keep them close by, then you have to try out the new ringtone: The bass line is a little flat and it might sound a little empty compared to other ringtones but the main riff in this song is brought into the ringtone perfectly (how can you go wrong with a riff and a rhythm taken straight out of the studio of Wyclef Jean?)

Bottom line is: I think they did a really good job on this one… If you’re looking for a ringtone that will make you shake your hips every time you get a phone call you should really check this ringtone out!

Shakira has never let me down! Her hips don’t lie… Till the next time!

Ringtone Rate: 9 Tonys (out of 10)

Oh and if you don’t believe that her hips don’t lie then you simply must check out the video of her breathtaking performance at the 2006 VMA Awards:

Justin Timberlake’s sexy back is still no. 1

This Ringtone review is brought to you by The Cell Freak.

Guess who’s back? Back again? Justin is back, go tell a friend! Yup, we’ve been waiting for quite a while for this Memphis, Tennessee song to come out… The song is titled: “Sexy Back” feat Timbaland!

SexyBack

Sooo, Justin Timberlake, huh? We all know that he’s from the successful band ‘Nsync which made girls (and even a couple of curious boys) go NUTS! His first album “Justified” of course made the charts bow to him. It is a widely known fact within the production industry that the single “Rock Your Body” was originally intended for Michael Jackson’s comeback album “Invincible” but for reasons unknown, Jackson and The Neptunes had a fallout and the track ended up being sold to Timberlake for his debut album…

But let’s talk about his new fresh album titled “FutureSex/LoveSounds” (couldn’t make up your mind Justy?) The producers of the album are Rick Rubin, Timbaland, Danjahandz, Will.i.am and JAWbreaker. Come on, give me a break…this album is gonna be unbelievable with a team of producers like these… The album will include 12 songs featured artists such as “Timbaland”, “T.I”, “Three 6 Mafia”, “Will.i.am” and the “The Benjamin Wright Orchestra”. Man. if u ask me the line up for this one is amazing. The album will be out there for u to get on September 12th!!!

The first single off the album is “Sexy Back”. To tell u the truth I didn’t expect this song to be out from Justin…it’s not really Justin material…and it’s weird…..not in a bad way…but not in a fabulous way… At first you ask yourself “who the hell is singing here” but after you hear the song on the radio a few times, you start to understand what it’s all about. Timbaland does a gr8 job filling in the “empty” parts of the song and gives it a rich taste of the hip hop world… And of course the song made it big time. Let’s just say the song easily made it to the top 10 of most of the charts.

Although the song isn’t what u would expect, the ringtone is exactly what u would expect! It is a very powerful ringtone and if ur a Justin Timberlake fan then you have to GO 4 IT!!! The bass line on it is amazing! It’s tight like a nail in the wall.

So take care and keep it real.
And don’t forget to scratch that sexy back of urs…

Pink Can’t Deal with Stupid Girls No More
Posted on September 30th, 2006 at 12:10 pm by RingTony

Pink

We all know the Grammy Award-winning American singer-songwriter Alecia Beth Moore or as we REALLY know her “P!NK”. Yeah, she’s back with some tracks to kick ur butt with! And a whole new album showing off that Pink attitude of hers, getting all mad about stupid girlz and other stuff that pisses off Mrs. (grumpy bear) Pink.

If u dint know it already, the young punkster has won a lot of awards! For example, she has won 11 MTV Awards till today and 2 Grammy awards! Hey, gotta give that a little respect!

Anyways, her new album “I’m Not Dead” is her fourth album out. It was released April 4, 2006 and it sold 126,000 copies in the first week (which tied the first week performance of her second and very successful album “M!ssundaztood” in terms of units sold). The album got 2x Platinum in the “Australian ARIA Album” Chart and in the US it got to 36 on the “US Billboard Hot 200″. (She’s got what it takes!).

The first single she put out off her latest album is “Stupid Girlz” and in my opinion the song was the perfect choice for the first single because it’s poppy, powerful, very catchy and complete with the Pink attitude!

Pink explained that the song is about her noticing many young girls near her Los Angeles home aspire to the hypersexual personae of female pop icons, rather than careers or talents. The unorthodox pop star was inspired to write “Stupid Girls”, in which she deplores the lack of good role models for girls whilst encouraging them to cultivate independence.

Pink

The song got to #13 on the “U.S. Billboard Hot 10″ but on the “World Singles Top 40″ chart the song got to #1! So, hell ya!

And now for the ringtone: I think it’s awesome… I mean it’s got all the elements of the rhythm and pop side but yet it’s also pretty powerful! Warning: trying this ringtone will get you real hooked, you’ll see! I’m giving this ringtone 8 TONY’S! Don’t agree? Let me know!

The Fray are wondering how to save a life

Ok, I’ve been waiting for a couple of months for this band to release a new single and here it is… I wrote a post about them last month or so and I’m stoked to get to this point again because this band is amazing. After “Over My Head” (which reached #8 on the Billboard Hot 100 and got Double Platinum), The Fray now bring us “How to Save a Life” (that’s also the actual title of the album that it’s out from).

According to lead singer Issac Slade, the song is about discussing a friend’s crack cocaine addiction at a summer camp.
Touching.

The Fray

The song up until now has reached “Gold” and is at number 7 at the “The Billboard Hot 100″. It was also featured on episodes of “Scrubs”, “One Tree Hill”, MTV’s “The Hills” and “Grey’s Anatomy” (the song was used in the main ABC promotion for the third season premiere and saw a large rise in the Billboard charts as a result).

In my opinion the song has made it and it deserved to make it. It’s just a song that you can’t not like…gr8 lyrics, gr8 passion, the music is tight and the vocals are really unbelievable… The ringtone for the song is also very good. Really, the song is catchy and addictive so you’ll like the ringtone for sure! The vocals rhythms on it are very nice; the bass line is filling the ringtone out like hell! Really I think this is a winner…yes….it’s gonna get 10 TONY’S!!! And it well deserves it!!! U think different, tell me about it!

How to Save a Life (Lyrics):

Step one you say we need to talk
He walks you say sit down it’s just a talk
He smiles politely back at you
You stare politely right on through
Some sort of window to your right
As he goes left and you stay right
Between the lines of fear and blame
And you begin to wonder why you came

Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life

Let him know that you know best
Cause after all you do know best
Try to slip past his defense
Without granting innocence
Lay down a list of what is wrong
The things you’ve told him all along
And pray to God he hears you
And pray to God he hears you

Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life

As he begins to raise his voice
You lower yours and grant him one last choice
Drive until you lose the road
Or break with the ones you’ve followed
He will do one of two things
He will admit to everything
Or he’ll say he’s just not the same
And you’ll begin to wonder why you came

Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life

How to save a life…

Ringtone Delight: Evanescence - Call Me When You’re Sober

Wow, im really stoked to write about this next band, since their first album came out I just fell in love… They are from Little Rock, Arkansas and their genre is “rock” but the actual band categorized themselves with a list to pick what side of them u like… I mean there is gothic metal, alternative rock, nu metal, piano rock, arena rock and Wagnerian rock…all you need to do is choose. I give u… “Evanescence.”

They really started off back in 98 outing out EP’s, but of course their first major label album was “Fallen” (2003). It is the first album by rock band Evanescence on the Wind-up Records label, and their first album to achieve widespread release around the world. That album was fucked up…and I mean in a good way…I remember not knowing who this band is and seeing them performing on Leno… I just fell in love…I couldn’t take it that I hadn’t heard of them before. The voice of their female vocalist; Amy Lee was just outstanding for me!!! Finally a band with an attitude of a metal band but they have a huge “soft side” to them.

Well the album was unbelievable in my eyes. And of course it achieved really high standards. I mean, it has been certified 6x Platinum, spent 43 weeks in the Billboard Top 10 and has sold over 14 million copies worldwide. As of April 2005 “Fallen” became one of only eight albums in the history of the chart to spend a full year (52 weeks) in the Billboard Top 50. That’s freakin’ crazy… I can’t wait for the new album to come out on October 3.

The album has progressed slowly for a number of reasons but perhaps mainly due to Amy Lee’s desire to allow the creative process to fully take its course and not rush production. Other distractions have also included other band members’ side projects, health problems concerning guitarist Terry Balsamo (who had a stroke) and the controversy revolving around the dismissal of their former manager.

By the first single they have released from that CD, titled “Call Me When You’re Sober”, I think the album’s gonna be amazing! It has its soft side of Amy Lee with her piano…but still there is the rocking out guitar reefs that make u go nuts! It has reached the Top 20 on the Canadian BDS Airplay charts and the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 Top 10, where it first debuted at number 25 marking the band’s highest Hot 100 debut to date. On August 28th 2006, it reached number one on TRL, marking the first time an Evanescence single has reached the TRL top spot.

And yes, the ringtone is awesome! It’s really just rocking out, letting u hear what the band has to give… It is not an unusual ringtone but it’s kinda weird in a good way. U’ve got to listen to it to understand the matching of the vocals and the main guitar riffs.

I say they have done a gr8 weird job on this one! I will give this ringtone 8 TONY’S! And man I can’t wait for the album to be out already! Bottom line, call me when ur sober and don’t forget to make “Call Me When You’re Sober” ur ringtone!!!

Ringtone Delight: Nickelback - Far Away

Far Away

I wrote a post about this band like two months ago… Their new hit has been approved by ME and I think I should let ya know about it and about its musical ringtone… Yup, “Nickelback”…the Canadian rock/ post grunge band.

Well, so far so good!!! Yes, I’m talking about their latest album out: “All the Right Reasons”, which in my opinion, is fuckin’ amazing. The lyrics are very powerful and the music is unbelievable. And if u ask me, the CD has got all the right reasons for achieving what it has achieved till today…

What? Haven’t u heard what success this album brought? Wow wow wow, check it out! The CD was certified 3x Platinum by the “RIAA” in June 2006 and has sold 3,423,156 copies as of September 16, 2006. The album also received similar success in Canada and in June 2006 was certified 4x Platinum for selling over 400,000 copies. Also in Australia the album became 3x Platinum for selling over 210,000 copies and in New Zealand the album was no.1 for 2 weeks and now has sold almost 50,000 copies which means something more than 3x Platinum. The bottom line is it sold world (fuckin) wide 4,934,000 copies!!! And that’s up until now… ‘Cause wait till people fall in love with the next hit titled “Far Away.” It just got to fuckin #9 on the US billboard. And I think it’s gonna go even higher than I expect!

Nickelback

The band’s lead singer and guitarist Chad Kroeger described this song as “the only real love song”. He described many others as “being about love” but not solely about “being in love”. So this one is defiantly special… Up until now the song is a huge success in the U.S. and it became the band’s fourth Top Ten single on the Billboard Hot 100. The song was also the second Top Ten single from their latest album “All the Right Reasons” after the lead single of the album “Photograph” which peaked at No.2 on the chart.

As for the ringtone, I think as the only real love song for Nickelback, they matched it pretty good. It sounds really smooth and relaxing.. The bass lines aren’t what is important in the song so it has less performance than the other rhythms and the vocal tones… This ringtone deserves a nice amount of 8 TONY’S. Last post that I wrote about them I gave their ringtone (“Savin’ Me”) 9 Tony’s… Well to tell ya the truth, the ringtone for “Savin’ Me” was bitchin’ but as a song, I love “Far Away” more.

U disagree? Tell me about it!

Take care…

Ringtone Delight: Snow Patrol - Chasing Cars

This Ringtone review is brought to you by The Cell Freak.

I’m really surprised I never heard of this band before…I mean they’ve been around since 1994 and now that I listen to them they’re just a great indie rock band. The band considers U2 to be one of its biggest influences. They are from Northern Ireland and Scotland and their name is “Snow Patrol“.

If you haven’t heard the name before, don’t be surprised… Their first song that actually made it to the US billboard charts just made it now…yeah, that’s right…after 12 hard years!

Their latest album titled “Eyes Open” is their fourth album and from the start it was very promising. Quick story about this band is that many of their songs, including most from “Songs for Polarbears”, are songs with titles that do not appear in the lyrics. “Eyes Open” is the first album of the band’s that largely bucks that trend. Ironic that it’s successful? You be the judge.

The album made it to #34 till now… (But I’m sure it’s only uphill from here!) Their first single has finally dropped to the US billboard charts. Their hit: “Chasing Cars” as well promised did make it to fuckin #7! And to tell you the truth, the band earned it respectfully and I really hope number 7 isn’t their last stop on the chart.

The song is really a popish kinda way to bring out an indie rock band to mainstream life… And they have done it well. I would like to know what’s gonna be their next hit and how it will affect the US charts. That’s the big test…”the second single test.”

The “Chasing Cars” ringtone also got to a level of “fuckin coolness” in my brain. It’s a perfect fit, it rox my sox as much as I expected it to. You can practically feel the rhythms going down ur spine when ur cell rings… 8 TONY’S!!!

Ringtone Delight: Ain’t no other man for Christina
Posted on September 8th, 2006 at 10:22 am by RingTony

This Ringtone review is brought to you by The Cell Freak.

Christina

My oh my, how I hated this artist once…
My oh my, how I love her today…

Yes, I am talking about Ms. “Dirty”, Ms. “started off her career as an innocent pop artist, and turned bad (but in a good way)”, Ms. “I just don’t give a f**k anymore”…
Ms. Christina Aguilera!!!

Do I really need to remind u her hits? I mean who the hell can get out of his head songs like: “Genie in a Bottle”, “What a Girl Wants”, “Dirrty” (feat. Redman) and of course, the fabulous track: “Lady Marmalade.” I mean it’s these types of songs that you’ll hear for years to come and can’t seem to overlook in your day-to-day life…

Talking about her down to earth hits reminds me of all the achievements that she’s already made… I mean she’s only f****n 27… hardly. And, I mean a girl that wins 3 Grammy’s has gotta be doing something right, don’t you think? In 2000, she won a Grammy Award for “Best New Artist”(oh she saw it coming!). In 2002, she won for “Lady Marmalade”(loooove it!) “Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals.” And in 2004 she won a “Best Female Pop Vocal Performance” Award for the song “Beautiful” (um, I personally thought the video clip for this one was kind of cheesy, right?) By the way, her new album was released just a couple of weeks ago…I believe she’ll win another one sometime this year. It just isn’t Christina if she doesn’t win, understood?)

So, let’s check out her new album, shall we? It’s titled: “Back To Basics”, and it’s her third full-length original studio album. Like her fashion style, her music style has changed from the urban and light rock sounds of “Stripped”(her second full length album) to a more soulful and jazz-inspired album. Or as Christina describes in her own words: “Urban soul record combining elements of 1920s, ’30s and ’40s blues and jazz with modern day influences.”

Chris

From the first hit out of her album “Ain’t No Other Man”, you can definitely can hear all those influences breaking through on this CD plus some hip hop as well, which I found very surprising… In my opinion, the single is the best track that Christina put out till today. It really is a killer; it makes you wanna dance and her vocals are simply amazing!!! Her high pitched vocal range even exceeds that of previous albums. Which is why the single already made it to 6th place on the “Billboard Hot 100.”

The ringtone made for this song is sooo cool. Really, it beats your ears out with the blasting drums of the new hit. You’re gonna be singing “Ain’t No Other Man” nonstop - just be careful when u get to the high pitched vocals part, eh? It’ really one of the most powerful ringtones I have ever heard.

I thought this wouldn’t happen often…but lately it just is… I’m giving this ringtone 10 whole TONY’S! Really, it fully deserves it…

And to think I hated my Chrissy once….ha!

Take Care…
